Euromaidan Protest Camp, Kiev

Euromaidan Protest Camp, Kiev, April 2014  Went on a trip to Ukraine to visit Chernobyl but also got the time to visit Kiev and walk around the Euromaidan protest camp. A surreal and emotional experience.

The Ukrainian protests began in November 2013 after President Yanukovych’s government rejected a deal to strengthen ties with the EU instead seeking closer ties to Russia.

This lead to the Ukrainian revolution in February 2014, when a series of violent events involving protesters, riot police, and unknown shooters in the capital, Kiev, culminated in the ousting of the elected Ukrainian President, Viktor Yanukovych, and the overthrow of the Ukrainian Government.
