The Ditchingham malting’s is situated in the picturesque valley of the river Waveney on the Norfolk Suffolk border. The site itself is split by the river and is located next to an ancient Roman ford. Originally the South Side was a Silk Mill and is a listed building dating from the 1800s,the site has been derelict since a major fire in 1999.
A submitted plan to demolish the buildings and build a housing estate on the site was approved in 2001. Demolition started a few years ago but abruptly stopped, no doubt due to the recession.
